Penpergwm Training Centre
The Training Centre is based at Penpergwm House and was initially set up in 2001 for the training of our own staff and those of Penpergwm Care.
We subsequently gained City and Guilds approval in September 2004 for NVQ Level 2 & 3 in Health and Social Care. All our training courses are accessible to anyone who needs them whatever sector they work in.
Our objective is to provide cost effective training aimed specifically at encouraging staff to work to the best possible standards. We provide a small friendly environment in which to learn and our full day courses include a home-made buffet lunch.
Because of the ever-changing rules and regulations on training the workforce, we have devised a training programme for basic mandatory courses to suit everyone. These courses run throughout the year and there is a wide range available. We use local trainers expert in their specific fields of knowledge.
- Basic First Aid
- Basic Food Hygiene
- Infection Control
- Health & Safety, Fire Safety, Risk Assessment, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations.
- Awareness of Abuse among the Elderly
- Skin Care / Pressure Sores
- Moving and Handling Passport Training
All our courses also can be run at your workplace and tailored to suit your specific needs. If you have other topics you would like covered please contact us to discuss it.
In order to qualify for an NVQ award you must prove competence in the areas of your work. Our aim is to provide work-based assessments and gather evidence of routine tasks in order to prove competence. This training programme will guarantee that candidates are able to maintain the standards and expectations of every client with regard to their personal care and their environment. It also promotes the independence and dignity of residents by encouraging candidates to use their skills appropriately. For prices and further information please contact Gail Hannam.
Training Room Hire
Have you been offered free training courses for your own staff only to turn them down because you haven't got room to facilitate them? The solution would be to hire our training room. We can offer discounted prices to those who hire on a regular basis. This means that you will be able to take advantage of the free training on offer such as Oral Hygiene, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training, deaf awareness, etc. We can also provide the details for you to contact these training providers. Don't lose out on such valuable resources for your staff. Home-made buffet lunches can also be provided. Contact Gail for details of the charges and facilities on offer. The room can also be used as a meeting venue.
