Training and workforce planning arrangements: Penpergwm House Ltd
Arrangements in place during the last financial year for identifying, planning and meeting the training needs of staff employed by the service provider. Whole organisation training matrix is in place to oversee all regulated training and can be monitored and updated when necessary. Specific and relevant courses for each department are provided by Ebox Learning in accordance with regulations. We actively encourage and support staff to attend additional training to support them including obligatory annual face to face Manual Handling Training for all Care staff by Monmouthshire Development Workforce. Ad hoc training is also provided on request.
Arrangements in place during the last financial year for the recruitment and retention of staff employed by the service provider. Indeed is the only online recruitment platform we use alongside word of mouth and sometimes the use of local community groups on social media site Facebook.

Engagement with people using the service

Annual surveys for Residents, relatives and staff, that can be anonymous if required, Multiple face to face formal and informal meetings, email exchanges and telephone interactions alongside regular email newsletters and information shared by General Manager to relatives/advocates and the use of back and forth WhatsApp for regular lower level interactions between staff and family members. Relatives also have encrypted, private access to areas of our digital care platform to respond to as well. Annual surveys are digitally sent to staff with the option to be named if they want things to be addressed more privately beyond meetings; quarterly staff meetings separated by all staff and care staff to refine relevant information shared and multiple staff (both individual and group) WhatsApp channels are regularly used.

During the reporting period, Care Inspectorate Wales visited our service. We’re proud their findings show we provide safe, effective, and supportive care for the people who use our services, meeting the required standards under section 27(1) of the Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016.

We also carry out regular reviews to make sure the care and support we offer continues to meet people’s needs and helps them achieve positive outcomes.
