SUPPORTING THE ENVIRONMENT

We are a family run Home and after being in the area for many years, we are very conscious that as a 24/7/365 organisation, we use a lot of resource to run.  Therefore, we always do our very best to consider our impact on the Environment and have and continue to take as many steps as we can towards lessening our impact and being as sustainable as possible:

  • Our Home is heated by using Biomass Boilers. Biomass pellets are an organic material derived from plants and animals and by burning these biological materials in a biomass boiler provides a renewable and sustainable source of heat as opposed to using fossil fuels.  This produces very little ash and what we do produce we use on plants in the grounds.
  • South facing extensive solar panels are situated across our expansive building ensuring we create our own energy to support our electricity requirements.
  • We Reuse, Reduce and Recycle in any way we can – with a very skilled Maintenance team mending, safely rewiring and maintaining furniture and items across the Home.
  • Upcycling – using materials on site again to build, support or utilise elsewhere for the business.
  • Local produce and suppliers.  We source most of our meat from local butcher Golden Valley and our milk, cream and eggs come from neighbouring cows and farms via Raglan Dairy to reduce our carbon footprint, give our Residents fresher LOCAL produce and supporting the preservation of open space farming and the local community.
  • Composting appropriate food and plant waste to create mulch to maintain the garden
