ACTIVITIES AND WELL-BEING ASSISTANT
JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Purpose: To ensure the well-being of all day and residential clients at Penpergwm House Ltd, by identifying and catering for their social needs as well as co-ordinating a seamless and stimulating programme of activities.
Responsible to: Registered Manager & General Manager
Reporting to: AWB Lead
Hours: Flexible (approx. 14 hours over 2 shifts with ½ hour unpaid lunch break)
Activities:
- Planning, facilitating and managing daily activity sessions.
- Assisting with determining the need of activities by levels of interest, uptake and suitability using surveys and feedback
- Liaising with AWB Lead and ensuring that activity sessions run smoothly.
- Ensuring that all activity equipment is in full working order and reporting to relevant people if not.
- Ensuring that all volunteers are supported and working with their responsible person.
- To meet and greet and manage day care clients.
- To co-ordinate and help facilitate fund raising events such as fairs, coffee mornings and raffles.
- Encourage inclusion in activity sessions via 1 to 1 support for Residents in their rooms or for smaller groups if necessary.
- To ensure activity register is kept up to date with relevant information on attendance.

- Support the day clients, including meeting and greeting them on arrival.

- Improving emotional health by enabling relaxation and emotional release

- Ensuring our care and support services are designed around what matters most to individuals.
- Identifying and enabling meaningful activities to be incorporated into the everyday life of the client
- Providing encouragement to the client to fulfil their aims, enjoy new experiences, engage with learning opportunities and shape their lives
- Promoting and enabling enjoyable social contact between the clients, families and the community
- Working with associated partners eg Cross Ash Primary School
Essential Requirements:
- A keen interest in activities that inspire older people
- Organisational skills
- People skills
- Good computer skills
- Good knowledge of administration and record keeping
- Full Driving licence to be able to drive all vehicles provided by Penpergwm, including the minibus in order to transport clients.
- Good sense of humour
- Ability to work under pressure and be flexible
