NIGHTS – Senior Care Lead (QCF 3 qualified) – PART TIME

Reporting to: Deputy Manager & Registered Manager

Location: Penpergwm House Ltd
Hours: 7.15pm – 7.45am

  • Must have QCF L3 in Health & Social Care
  • Must have minimum 2 years Care experience
  • Must be a competent medication administrator and administer
  • Good leader & communicator

Important: Due to the rural location of Penpergwm House and limited bus service, this role is only suitable for those who have a driver’s license and the use of a vehicle at all times

Responsible For:

To lead, guide and be part of the Care Team, whose aims are to ensure that residents care, personal and psychological needs are met. To be responsible for the overall night shift, ensuring that all clients have a good rest and that staff perform the night routine in a smooth and organised manner. To consult with the Team Leader, Home or General Manager if there are any situations which needs further decision making.

Hours: 2 x 12 ½ hours night shift – every other weekend – regular pattern.

28 days Annual Leave pro rata

CLIENTS

  • To make autonomous decisions in emergency situations or when a client is unwell and needs support
  • To administer medication to the residents within the Home, which may include the ordering, booking and returning of medication.
  • To liaise with clients, their families, advocates, medical professionals and representatives when needed
  • To assist the Senior Team Leader in ensuring Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans are in place and reviewed when needed for all clients.
  • ·To review care plans and risk assessments for all residents, escalating any significant changes or concerns to the Senior Team Leader.
  • ·Keeping up to date and accurate manual and computerised care records.
  • ·Ensure all charts, forms and paperwork are completed by carers before the end of the shift
  • ·Ensure accident and incident forms of clients are completed accurately by staff when necessary.
  • To report any errors, concerns or allegations of abuse to the Senior Team Leader or the Manager.

STAFF

  • Staff supervisions and spot checks of carers, dealing with any poor performance or misconduct (like the misuse of private mobile phones), escalating any issues or concerns to the Senior Team Leader
  • Lead the carers to promote team work, effective communication and a proactive and positive working environment as well as encouraging carers to take the initiative in solving problems.
  • Delegate tasks to carers and ensure that they are completed according to the requirements
  • Promote learning and development within the teams,

YOU

  • To embark on a programme of Continuous Professional Development and to promote learning and development for all care staff
  • To attend mandatory training days/courses on or off site, as and when required for personal, professional and business development.
  • Training needs will be identified to improve, develop and learn new skills and competencies in order to fulfil the requirements of the role

GENERAL

  • To respect and promote confidentiality at all times, and to ensure all clients are treated with dignity and respect by all staff.
  • To undertake any other duties as required by the Senior Team Leader to keep the Home running smoothly.
  • To enforce the ban of all mobile phones when on duty
  • To help promote residents personal and physical independence and choice
  • To participate in the basic care of the residents, e.g. washing, dressing, bathing, pressure area care, mouth care, hearing aid care, eye care etc. when needed
  • To assist the residents with their toileting needs, including continence promotion when needed
  • To help in the serving of meals and drinks, assisting those residents who are unable to feed themselves and ensuring that each resident receives the meal or diet that he/she has requested and is suitable for his/her needs when applicable.

Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications

  • Minimum QCF Level 3 in H&S plus at least 3 year’s care work experience
  • Previous experience in Health & Social Care
  • Must illustrate a genuine interest in working with vulnerable people.
  • Must speak and write good English and have good communication skills.
  • Must be able to delegate, instruct and support care staff using own initiative.
  • Must possess excellent problem solving, and organisational skills.
  • Must have a satisfactory DBS check and clearance.
  • Is able to show flexibility in working practices.

Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract, Temp to perm, Zero hours contract

Contract length: 3 months

Part-time hours: 25 per week

Salary: £12.20-£12.70 per hour
