Pottery Potential

This was our first attempt at hand building pottery and Cher, our Activities Lead, was happy we did.  There was a selection of pinch pots, coil pots and some slab work ghosts, plates and coaster that was produced.  We had a few demos and then the Residents who were interested – got stuck in with a choice of designs.

This was a lovely activity as it appealed to many and could offer a wide range of skill and application – allowing some residents to just enjoy the sensation of clay and molding it and others were able  to really create things.

This was great for creativity and concentration. Hand building pottery is also wonderfully sensory and is very good for anxiety, stress and building up muscles in the hands as well as hand eye concentration
