Wonderful Visit to Big Pit

What a marvellous opportunity for some of our Residents to have a guided tour to miners at Big Pit  National Coal Museum. The Residents had a lovely welcome and introduction to their underground tour guide – with an appreciated cup of coffee before embarking on a safe and well managed tour underground – where they were ‘kitted up’ with helmet, cap lamp, self resucer belt.  These brave explorers went 90 meters underground to explore the places where miners cut the coal which powered the industrial revolution.

The guide told them all  stories of his working life underground. Quite a memorable day for these intrepid ladies.
